A legendary tree and a zip line over the tea slopes
Near Lakkidi stands the Chain Tree, a tree wrapped in heavy iron chains and tied to a local legend. The story goes that a tribal youth named Karinthandan guided a British engineer along the path that became the ghat road, and was later chained to this tree. Visitors still stop here to hear the tale and tie their wishes to the chains.
Nearby, a zip line runs across the slopes above the tea plantations, giving a bird's-eye view of the hills for those who want some adventure.
